Field Sports Park of Santa Clara County

The County's only publicly owned firing range provides opportunities for rifle and pistol, as well as trap and skeet shooting.  League activity and special events take place year-round.  Located in south San Jose, Field Sports Park is staffed and supervised by qualified rangemasters at all times. If your youth organization does not have trained supervisors and rifles, contact the San Jose Zouaves Rifle Club. They're a service group that teaches safety and shooting techniques. They can be reached at http://www.zouaves.org/ 

 

Our troop participated at one of their youth clinics and our scouts had a great time.

 

Directions to Rifle Range:

The range facility is located in south San Jose. To get there:

  • From the North:

    - Take Highway 101 or 85 south and get off at the Bernal Road exit.
    - Turn right (West) onto Bernal road.
    - Follow signs to Monterey Highway, right turn off Bernal
    - Turn left (South) onto Monterey Highway
    - Go South on Monterey 1.3 miles and turn left (East) on Metcalf Road.
    - Go over highway 101 and turn right (South) onto the frontage road, Malech Road
    - Go South on Malech 1 mile, the entrance to the range is on the left.

Uvas Canyon County Park

Uvas Canyon County Park is located at the end of Croy Road in Uvas Canyon. From Highway 101, take Bernal Road west. Turn left on Santa Teresa Boulevard. Travel south three miles and turn right onto Bailey Avenue. Follow Bailey Road 2.3 miles to McKean Road. Turn left onto McKean Road (McKean Road becomes Uvas Road 2.2 miles south of Bailey Road). From Bailey Road travel 6 miles south on McKean/Uvas Road and turn right onto Croy Road. Continue 4.4 miles on Croy Road, through Sveadal, to reach the Park entrance. Sveadal is a private resort belonging to the Swedish American Patriotic League. Please respect their privacy and drive slowly as you pass through Sveadal.The Upper Bench Youth Group Camping Area is reserveable for non-profit youth groups for up to 40 people.

Outdoor enthusiasts will find Uvas Canyon Park has much to offer. The park has six miles of hiking trails including a one mile Waterfall Loop that travels along Swanson Creek past many of the park's waterfalls. A pamphlet, available at the trailhead and/or ranger's office, highlights the flora of Uvas Canyon along this self-guided interpretive trail.
